ONE-DAY EXCURSIONS

Our wine tours are dedicated to those who wish to discover the quiddity of the wine making heritage in Istria.

During whole day tour you will visit three or two wineries, you will try fresh and aged wines made from indigenous, Istrian grape varieties but also blends with international grape varieties. With wines always go local treats and snacks. You will also visit historical sights, like Grožnjan, Motovun or Oprtalj and try the best traditional cuisine in the best local, family owned restaurants offering traditional and local dishes like homemade pasta, a rare Istrian beef called boškarin, wild asparagus and truffles…. As Istria is also known for high quality olive oil and truffles you can choose a tour combining Istria gourmet treats.

 

All visited wineries differ in approach to the wine making and style of the wines.  Some wineries have very long tradition, some are young, but all wineries are among the best in Croatia with an international recognition and important awards. You will learn about different styles of production: long maceration, no maceration, ageing in barriques, in big wooden vessels or in stainless steel tanks... You will see people at work in wine cellars, bottling and labeling lines… depending on the season you will be able to see the selection of the grapes after the harvest, pressing, bottling or you will be able to hear the fermentation in progress… There is always something going on in the wineries!

 

During whole day tours in all wineries you will be accompanied by an expert guide or owner from each winery. Transportation (size of the car is adjusted to number of participants) with guiding, three or two professional wine tastings in noted wineries with rich, local snacks, visiting wine cellars and a 4-course meal with wine in a typical Istrian restaurant are included in price.

 

Tours start at 9:30 am and we return about 6:30/7:30 pm. We usually start from Rovinj but nothing is impossible and we arrange tours from other Istrian cities as well.

 

Tours are customised - no big groups, there is enough time to enjoy wine and nature. Minimum number of participants is 2, maximum 6.

 

We include only the best wineries and restaurants in my programs and wine tastings in wineries are scheduled by special arrangement. You are not obligated to buy wines, only if you wish to. Once you book your tour, I will contact the wineries and restaurants to make reservations for you.
